Sounds fairly accurate to me. Go back to my earliest postings (April or so of last year). I hated this model. After two years of ownership (today, 5 Feb), I've almost got it to the level of fit and finish that I prefer. The Savage is a decent base model bike, it just requires generous amounts of TLC to "cut the mustard" in the pretty bike scene. So the paint is thin (2 months and my orange fender was dark yellow), the chrome quality is pathetic (2 months and the inside of the battery box rusted out). Big deal, I bought it to ride and have fun with, not to impress the hardcore HD fanatics whose ranks I grew out of. I like a beautiful custom bike as much, if not more than your average bike owner, I have been building them for 12 years. My Savage in it's new guise should debut at the rally this spring. As long as it is ridable (finished new parts, primer, beat up stocker, whatever), either Lisa or I will be on it. Probably her, as I'm too big to ride it comfortably more than a few miles at a time. I usually sit on the pillion when I'm soloing around town, since the bars I like, 16" rise apehangers, are illegal in the great state of Tennessee. Is the Savage a good enough bike for average users, smaller commuters, beginners, or younger riders? Absolutely! Is it a good enough bike for a 6'2" ex-outlaw, whose ridden harleys since he was 15? Not really, but that's what the aftermarket is for. DFon't like something about the bike, change it! Paint is cheaper than a new bike, and machine shops are in existance for a reason!
That's my opinion, I could be wrong... ;-)
